Woes of Mohammad Asif
Though Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) managed to get their pacer Mohammad Asif off the hook of Dubai Authorities after much ado, and after spending the huge money on the legal process, and only after the intervention from the Pakistan government, but now even PCB is unable to help Asif more.
PCB is ready to forget Dubai case and though the pacer is facing a ban following his 19-day detention in Dubai for allegedly carrying a banned substance, it could be ignored. Mohammad Asif was in detention in Dubai from June 1 to 20 for suspected possession of an illegal substance, opium to be exact. The case against him was dropped by the Dubai public prosecutor on the grounds of insignificance.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will take a decision next week on whether to take action against their key pacer Mohammad Asif on his drug-related episode in Dubai.
But then Mohammad Asif flunked the Dope test held during Indian Premier League, and World Anti Doping Agency is also putting extreme pressure on PCB to hand the sample of Asif over to them, and they want stern action against the pacer over that.
