Pakistan cricket team’s coach Bob Woolmer on Monday threw his weight behind his under-strength bowling attack saying that it still has enough firepower to counter England. “I think some of my bowlers performed pretty well in this match,” Woolmer said referring to the first Test against England here at Lord’s.

Pakistan, playing without several of their frontline pacers including Shoaib Akhtar, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and Mohammad Asif, failed to bowl out England in either of the innings at Lord’s. England declared at 528-9 in the first innings and at 296-8 in the second and Danish Kaneria with six wickets in the match was Pakistan’s most successful bowler.

Woolmer pointed out that Lord’s wicket was perfect for batting and in the given circumstances, his bowlers did a pretty decent job, saying, “I believe Danish bowled pretty well so did (Shahid) Afridi. Abdul Razzaq worked very hard while Umar Gul and Mohammad Sami bowled okay.” Woolmer added that he was expecting his bowlers to do better in the second Test at Old Trafford.
