World Cup Australia vs Bangladesh Match Review
Yes, history do repeat itself, but not every time and not certainly when all you depend upon is on your good stars. Bangladesh, with all the youth and bubbliness in the world, played a blinder on 31st March in super 8 match against Australia. The contracted game comprising of 22 overs for each side, due to overnight rain, promised to be an exciting event, but the inexperience of Bangali tigers and professional approach of Aussies made it a one-sided show. Australia comprehensively beaten Bangaldesh by 10 wickets.
After losing the toss, Bangladesh also lost his 4 top-order batsmen in no time with very meagre score. All the Bangali batsmen were looking in great rush, and playing every ball as their last ball. Bangaldeshis were seemed to be going nowhere from the very first ball. They were panicked as what to do in the 22 overs, so they started throwing their woods all over the ground. In their futile strive to score so heavily, they lost some early wickets very cheaply.
Bangladesh were just 37 runs at the loss of 4 top wickets. Bangaldesh, after a very crucified display of batting, hardly managed to reach 104 after 22 overs. Saqibul Hasan scored 25, Habibul Bashar made 24 and Mashrafe Mortaza got 25 with two fours and a six. Rest of the Bangali batting was, well, there is nothing to write home about.
For Australian batting, it is more than suffice to say that Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden opened and when they open, it stays opened. 59 off 44 balls and 47 from 39 balls were entered by scorers respectively for Hayden and Gilchrist. Couple of sixes were nailed by Mathew, as Australia brutally crushed the fly of Bangla team.
The salient feature of the match was the McGrath’s achievement of highest wicket taker in the world cup. He broke the record of Pakistani legendry bowler Wasim Akram. He picked up three wickets in four overs. Despite the shorter version of the game, he maintained his famed robotic line and length and stuck to his charismatic bowling.
