World Cup : Australia vs New Zealand Match Review
Everything is looking too good for Australians. Their un-believable winning streak is hard to digest. Right out of a fairy tale, they have made perfections in each and every tangible and intangible facet of the game. Its fairly hard to point-out where Australia needs any improvement.
Winning has become more than habit for them, it has in actual become the second nature. World cup seems to be standing at their door front, humbly with eyes down. After breaking the spirits of every notable cricketers, on 20 April 2007, at National Cricket Stadium, St George’s, Grenada they demolished New Zealand without showing any respect.
In their stomping, Aussies even forgot that they are devastating their neighbours. Only Gilchrist showed the compassion, but Matt Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Clarke, Hussey and Watson hadnt felt like giving little respite and respect to their next door neighbours.
When Hayden opened his flaps and savagely started to devour already trembling Kiwis, Ponting was laughing with his boundaries. The battle between Kangroos and Kiwis was more like a battle between Hynas and Goats. If I hadnt seen it myself, I wouldnt believe Australia had lost Chappell-Hadlee series 3-0. What an ironic game, cricket is.
Oh, we were reviewing the match. Though, it would be suffice to say that New Zealand lost to Australia by 215 runs, to save the image of Kiwis, but as is the case with reviews, I have to tell it all.
When Mathew Hayden came running out of the dressing room to open the Australian shop, everyone knew inside that he will earn some serious income today. So he scored third century of this tournament. But it wasnt some sort of lame and lazy affair,it was a story full of roars and blasts. With a frightening strike rate of 104 runs, when somebody hits 10 fours and 2 sixes, his last name must be Hayden.
The panic created by Mathew Hayden was more aggravated by the bustling knock by Ponting. His 66 run-beauty was a treat for eyes. His master strokes were something extraordinary. Its simple yet beautiful footwork was clamouring in Grenada and New Zealand was all over the place.
After Rickey, Clarke and Hussey chipped in with valuable though some serious contribution devoid of any explosive aggression. But when Watson came in, he electrified the whole stadium and people started to see the glimpse of the ancient gladiator. The blitz by Watson lit-up the whole field, and New Zealand’s misery was heavier than ever. If the scoring wasnt computerized today, nobody would be able to count what was hit by Shane Watson. In his 32 ball stay, he hit 4 sixers and 4 fours.
Bowling performance was as dismal as the extras as far as Kiwis were concerend. 5 wides 10 no balls, for God’s sake !!! this is world cup, Kiwis. Except Jeetan Patel, every bowler received his lifetime insult. Mason’s economy was 9.00, Franklin’s was 9.25, and hey wait wait, Gillespie’s was 11.16.
From the Kiwi Squad, Only Fulton was the man who went down fighting. His master piece innings of 62 runs was a lesson to his buddies. No one else was able to go past even 30 runs and all team was back to pavilion in 26th over after making just 133 runs. Hogg bogged down Kiwis by taking 4 wickets, while good old McGrath snatched 2.
Australia is looking at coming Tuesday with bat in one hand and the ball in other, while blood is dripping down its mouth.
