World Cup : Bangladesh vs West Indies Match Review

The obeisance of world cup continuous with yet another lame and bland match, even when the event has entered in its last stages. Lack of crowd, abundance of matches, un-necessary pressures like surprise dope testing, ouster of India and Pakistan, death of Pakistani coach Bob Woolmer, un even pitches, weather, and many factors like these  have already suck the pleasure from this world cup.

Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados saw the 46th match ending in despair. Just like a minnow, Bangladesh lost to Windies by the massive gap of 99 runs. Though after winning the toss, Bengali bowlers choked the already jaded and wanton Windies batsmen, but then due to inexperience, Windies managed to get a score more than 230 runs.

Initially, Bashar forwarded his strike bowlers, who strangled Chris Gayle and Devon Smith bruttaly. Syed Rasel got the out of touch Gayle just for 1 runs, and Mashrafe Mortaza brilliantly knocked out the stumps of Smith. Movement and swing was too much for the openers and they departed in hurry.

Chanderpaul now accustomed to the custom, came early and tried to save the innings. He managed to pull the brakes, and along with Samuels saved Windies batting order from total collapse. The spin-trio from Bangladesh, Abdur Razzak, Rafique and Saqibul performed their role according to the script and created a severe runs famine. Though  after much plodding, Saqibul Hasan got Samuels, Chanderpaul carried on his miserable fight out there. His half century on just 85 balls with only three unconvincing boundaries tells the story of his toil.

West Indies let out their frustration and anger from the Sarwan vent. Sarwan epitomized in the game and showed his mettle. From the very first ball, Sarwan showed his intention and he upped his moment and opened the shoulders.

The pressure told on the Bengali fielders, who became increasingly ragged, and after a promisingly upbeat start Bengali shoulders slumped and frowns returned. The harsh treatment was too much for Bengali youth, they started to fumble and mumble. Brian Lara joined the party for a while and showed his sparkle in the form of 31 agile runs.
The Bengali eyes had a glint in eyes by watching 230 runs on the board by their opponents, but they foiled themselves up in a needless over-excitement and perhaps over-confidence. In order to free themselves from the title of minnow, they strengthened the tag more.

The batting performance was so dismal from Bangladesh that nobody from the first 6 batsmen managed to reach more than 16 runs. Daren Powell and Corey Collymore sliced down the Bengali batting in a fashion, which reminded many of the past Windies glory. Tamim Iqbal’s pathetic run out, and the moment when both Javed Omar and he were at the same end was spectacular. Aftab Ahmed and Saqibul Hasan both were not competent enough to assess the Collymore’s intuitiveness on that day. Habibul Bashar and Mohammad Ashraful both went pale, when they were revealed the reality by Powell’s stormy deliveries. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mashrafe Mortaza added some sort of dignity to the batting and held the inevitable defeat for a while.

But after making 38 and 37 respectively, both Mushfiqur and Mortaza got tired and gave away the wickets in despair. Rest of the things was just a formality. West Indies, atlast achieved its first super eights win.
