Yasir Hameed fit, ready for selection
The Pakistan cricket team batsman Yasir Hameed has expressed optimism to be the part of the national team against England in the ongoing series and revealed that he is feeling better than before and has strived hard to get 100 percent fit to make himself available for the selection.
Talking to reporters during the rain-hit Peshawar-Swat match in the Senior Inter-District Cricket Championship here at Gymkhana ground, Yasir said that decision of the captain counts the most as far as the performance of the team is concerned.
“Superb captainship of Inzamam-ul-Haq and guidance of Bob Woolmer has guided Pakistan into the top ranks of cricket playing nations,” he remarked.
Yasir, known for his perfect timing said that he was doing his best to regain his batting form. He joined the national team after an incredible show during his first-class carrier where he played 83 matches and scored 4750 runs with nine hundreds and 25 fifties.
He, so far, has played 17 Test matches and has scored 1168 runs with an average of 38.39. He has two centuries and seven fifties to his credit.
Talking about the recent ongoing series, he remarked that England has a tough side. “England in recent times has produced the most balanced side in world cricket so they are very tough to beat,” he said. “Pakistan, though, would give them resistance,” he hoped.
Yasir is the fourth Pakistani batsman to score two centuries in a Test match emulating Hanif Muhammad, Javed Miandad and Wajahatullah Wasti. He is only the second batsman after Lawrence Rowe to achieve the feat on debut match.
