Yet Another Defeat for Pakistan

Losing matches has become a default for Pakistani cricket team. News is when they win any showdown, which has become rare in the recent years. In the first test match against South Africa, Pakistan again failed to show any concrete and solid performance, and guest team cruised to victory at the last day of match by a massive margin of 160 runs.

In the second innings Pakistan needed a target of 424, but the whole team left ground after making 263 runs. Another dark side of the match is the century of Younis Khan, who now will play 100 more matches without doing anything, based on this useless and pathetic century. National Stadium, Karachi has always been remained one of those favourite grounds for the national team, where they usually win. The fact that this defeat was the second out of 40 test matches they played.

And South African know this. Graeme Smith, skipper of South Africa said that this was one of his major win as a captain, because its very meaningful to win in the Karachi, and its quite an achievement to win on the dead of wickets of sub-continent. He said that they are primarily speed-oriented guys, who like to play it with bounce and seam, and they like to field on lush grassy outfields, and it was quite hard to do on the dead wickets and bare outfields.

In this match, once again Pakistani team has been exposed. You cannot really seriously judge a team through its performance in the short games of Twenty20 format. Look at India, the world champ of Twenty20, as how the real world champ Australians are thrashing them in the real games. Pakistan, the runner-ups of Twenty20 world cup miserably failed in the first test match against a very professional team. Pakistan’s batting once again proved to be fragile, and their bowling was as weak as anything. They have got no real pace and there is not a single wicket taker in Pakistani outfit. Fielding is as pathetic as ever. Dropping catches and misfields are in the core of their training.

Geoff Lawson is also disappointed. After the first test match, he didn’t even face the media, but he told journalists after a day that he was really shocked at the dismal performance by his team, and he now thinks that task is much bigger than he first thought it was. Henry, the coach said that he will change his technique of coaching now, and now he would do it on some different contours.

Here is a tip for Lawson. The current players in the team have been tested again and again, and it would be more waster of time and money to expect anything from them. Lawson should ask PCB to find new and fresh talent, and this is very good time to refurbish the national team.
