Young Blood Promotion
A good approach Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is following is to pay more attention on the young talent. They are not only promoting young blood in the national team, but also giving it a lots of thought to expedite the influx of young blood on national arena. Inclusion of young players in the team is a good sign. Appointment of Shoaib Malik in this regard is a good example.
The reason behind this is primarily to reduce the player power. First time in the history of Pakistani cricket, board has tried seriously to control the player power, which is a very good thing for the future of Pakistani cricket. PCB has got this opportunity after the welcome ouster of Inzamam-ul-Haq. Inzamams’s legacy is Younis Khan, who is thoroughly disliked by the nation due to his incompetency, artificial smiling gestures in the field, refusal to become a captain after Inzi, lack of talent and skill, and disgusting personality.
Other senior is Mohammad Yousuf, who is without any doubt a world class batsman, and has been consistent in his performance, but he hasn’t got any leadership qualities, and he isnt that bright one. So is the case with talented but dull Abdul Razzaq. Another senior player is Shahid Afridi, who is as dumb as a stone. His career is all about failures. His average and his aggregate runs with respect to matches played are the proof. Its a tragic wonder that he is still in the team. Shoaib Akhtar has always suffered from his questionable attitude and fitness.
In these circumstances, its a good thing that at least PCB has taken a bold step and concentrating on youngsters. PCB needs to put tight leashes on team to maintain discipline and to ensure that things like match-fixing allegations and dope scandals don’t happen again. Bright future is in store for Pakistan in regard of cricket, as immense talent is bubbling throughout the country. But PCB needs to promote the first class cricket more. Director General Cricket Operations, Pakistan Cricket Board, Zakir Khan has said on myriad number of occasions that he has got a strong desire to focus strongly on first class cricket. Luckily he also realizes that for that there should be plenty of well-maintained grounds available to the players, because they will play an important and beneficial role for the promotion of first class cricket.
