Yousuf fails to make Pakistan T20 squad again
Pakistan on Friday overlooked experienced batsman Mohammad Yousuf once again while naming their Twenty20 squad for tomorrow (Sunday)’s game against Bangladesh here at the National Stadium.
Yousuf, who almost joined the rebel Indian Cricket League last year after being dropped for the inaugural World Twenty20 Championship in South Africa last September, was not considered good enough to play in the T20 game.
“Yousuf is a great batsman but we wanted to give some younger players a chance to play in the Twenty20 game,” said chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed.
The selectors named a 15-man squad for Sunday’s game which would be the first Twenty20 International on Pakistani soil.
They have included fit-again opener Nasir Jamshed, Mansoor Amjad and Quetta’s left-handed opener Shoaib Khan in the squad.
T20 squad: Kamran Akmal (wk), Salman Butt, Nasir Jamshed, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik (captain), Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Fawad Alam, Sohail Tanvir, Rao Iftikhar Anjum, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Wahab Riaz, Mansoor Amjad, Shoaib Khan.
Security is no issue for us: Siddons
KARACHI: Security is no issue for us and we are satisfied the way Pakistan took security measures for us says Bangladesh cricket team coach Jamie Siddons.
“Security is no issue for us,” he said here on Friday.
He said that they could win the final match if his team bat first and score well. He said “we have batted well in the series and could win the final ODI if we bat first and score well tomorrow.” Siddons said his side need consistency in every aspect of the game.
